Officers find a drunk driver has crashed their car into a brick wall. The suspect is questioned and placed in an ambulance after sustaining neck injuries. As the officers return to their shift, they are called out again to deal with the same suspect, who has broken free from the ambulance. Elsewhere, cops conduct multiple undercover sting operations to bust illegal sex work.
Real-life officers are followed by a camera crew, cinéma-vérité style, in a gritty up-close look at police work and the consequences of crime. It spawned a number of police-reality imitators.
