Find Out What's REALLY Inside Cannabis: CBD or THC?

Everybody is talking about CBD and THC, two important chemicals found in marijuana. But what’s the real difference between them? Inside your body, there’s a biological system called the endocannabinoid system that regulates mood, appetite, memory, and pain sensation. THC and CBD interact with this system, but in different ways.

Let’s talk about their chemical structures. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, has a similar structure to a neurotransmitter called anandamide, which produces the runner’s high. CBD, or cannabidiol, has a different structure that doesn’t bind to the receptors responsible for the high.

CBD has shown promise in reducing anxiety. In a study, people with social anxiety disorder who took CBD reported significantly less anxiety. CBD also has anti-anxiety and anti-inflammatory properties, which may help with chronic pain. THC, on the other hand, can worsen psychotic symptoms, while CBD may help with psychosis.

When CBD and THC are consumed together, CBD can inhibit THC’s effects. It can bind to the receptors and decrease the intensity of the high. The ratio of THC to CBD in marijuana products determines the overall experience.

In conclusion, THC is the chemical in marijuana that makes you feel high, while CBD doesn’t produce that effect. However, CBD can still affect your body in other ways. As more places legalize marijuana, further research will help us understand these chemicals better.
