Does Weed lowers your IQ?
Yes and it’s really scary as it’s not publicized well enough especially for our youth. A study published in 2021 did a systemic review and a meta analysis of more than 2000 studies and found that cannabis exposure in youth leads to a decline in their IQ levels at least by 2 points.
Research shows that marijuana’s negative effect on attention, memory and learning can last for days or weeks even after the acute effect of the drug wears off.
Recent data analysis from many large studies published in Australia and New Zealand have shown that someone who smokes weed frequently has poor educational outcomes than many of their nonsmoking peers. They also have reduced chances of graduating and getting a degree, and a higher chance of developing dependence, using other drugs and attempting suicide.
So my question is, now when weed is legalized in most of North America, then how come these negative effects of marijuana use especially on our brain development are not conveyed to our youth. This should be a part of the school health curriculum, so our youth can make an informed decision.
Something to think about…
